Who is Required to Secure this Bond?
In order to obtain an Arizona contractor's license, all applicants are required to furnish a bond or cash deposit with the Registrar of Contractors. The bond must be in the name of the licensee and in the amount determined by the volume of work and the classification of the contractor (see table below).

The bond is required for the benefit persons who supply services or materials to, or receives services from the licensee.
Who is Protected Under this Bond?
The beneficiary of the bond is the State of Arizona and the bond provides protection to persons who supply labor, materials and construction equipment on a rental basis to the licensee. The bond also protects persons receiving services from the licensee.
Underwriting Process
The bond is underwritten based on a personal credit check of the business owner(s). In the event the personal credit does not meet the minimum threshold for a standard approval, the premium rate may be elevated.
What you Need to do Once you Have your Bond
Once the bond has been approved, it must be filed with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors with all supporting paperwork for the required license.
